I attended graduate school in the Department of Cognitive Science at the University of California, Irvine. While in graduate school I worked with Dr. David LaBerge in understanding the mechanisms involved in preparatory attention, primarily for visual stimuli.
After graduate school I obtained a post-doctoral fellowship to study under Dr. Steven Yantis at Johns Hopkins University, where I participated in fMRI research studying the neural mechanisms of attentional focus and attentional shifts.
My first teaching position was at Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York. I spent seven years at Clarkson University teaching and doing research.
Since 2008 I have taught at Dixie State University teaching and actively participating in the campus community. I served as Faculty Senate President and am currently the Department Chair for Psychology.
